Bab Mrisa
Bab Mrisa ("Gate of the Little Port") is the most striking monument in Salé's medina walls — a soaring 13th-century water gate built by the Marinid dynasty so that boats could sail directly from the Bou Regreg river into the fortified city. Its horseshoe arch, carved stone facade, and twin flanking towers are considered one of the finest surviving examples of Marinid military-religious architecture in Morocco. The gate no longer opens onto water — the old port silted up centuries ago — but it remains the ceremonial entrance to the old town and a favorite photo stop for visitors crossing over from Rabat.
