Medersa of Abu al-Hasan
Built in 1341 by the Marinid sultan Abu al-Hasan next to the Great Mosque of Salé, this madrasa is a small but exceptionally rich showcase of Marinid decorative art: every surface of its narrow courtyard is covered in carved cedar, sculpted stucco, and glazed zellige tilework. Student cells still line the upper gallery, and a stairway climbs to a rooftop terrace with views across Salé's rooftops to Rabat across the river — one of the best free viewpoints in either city.
