Place Moulay El Mehdi
Place Moulay El Mehdi is the circular heart of Tétouan's Spanish-built Ensanche district, ringed by elegant early-20th-century colonial facades and centred on a fountain that lights up in the evening. Locally still called "El Plaza Primo," it's anchored by the Church of Our Lady of Victory and lined with cafes where the city's evening paseo plays out much as it would in a Spanish provincial town. Palm-lined Avenue Mohammed V runs from here toward the Feddan and the Royal Palace, making the square a natural starting point for exploring the rest of the city.
