Tap water in Morocco is treated but not recommended for visitors' stomachs — stick to sealed bottled water, which is cheap and sold everywhere, and use it for brushing teeth too if you want to be cautious. Ice in tourist-oriented restaurants and hotels is generally made from filtered water and fine.
Mint tea, on the other hand, is essential rather than optional. Known locally as "Moroccan whiskey," it's boiled and poured from height to aerate it, always served heavily sweetened, and offered as a genuine gesture of hospitality — in a shop, a home, or a carpet showroom. Politely accepting a glass, even mid-negotiation, is part of the culture, not a sales trick to worry about.
